9 COMMONS creates elevated merchandise exclusively for women’s sports. We combine premium materials, considered silhouettes, artful imagery, and purpose-driven storytelling to create pieces that feel as distinctive as the athletes, teams, and communities that inspire them.

WHAT LED TO THE FORMATION OF 9 COMMONS?
After more than 20 years working in fashion, including senior leadership roles at Gucci and Google, our Founder and CEO, Maria McClay, experienced a health crisis that made her reconsider where she wanted to focus her time and energy.

Growing up in Philly, Maria experienced firsthand the power of fandom to bring people together. As a hurdler nicknamed “Crash,” she also understood the lasting impact sports can have on confidence, identity, and belonging.

Inspired by the extraordinary momentum behind women’s sports, Maria saw an opportunity to reimagine what merch could be. More than something you wear, it could sit at the intersection of sports, fashion, and design. It could celebrate stories that deserve to be seen, deepen the connection between teams and their communities, and help expand access to sports.

That vision inspired Maria to leave corporate life and build 9 COMMONS.

WHY THE NAME 9 COMMONS? 
“Commons” represents a shared place—a space for connection, community, and belonging—and was inspired by a walk through Boston Common.

The number nine carries many symbolic meanings, including the completion of one chapter and the beginning of another. It is also a subtle nod to Title IX, because we are all-in on women’s sports. 

WHY WOMEN’S SPORTS?
Women’s sports is poised to become one of the defining growth stories of the decade, yet the merchandise market remains underserved, across fans of all genders.

For us, however, the opportunity goes far beyond commercials. Merchandise can help tell stories that deserve greater visibility, celebrate the athletes and teams moving the game forward, and give fans a meaningful way to express their connection to the sport.

Although we are also fans of men’s sports, 9 COMMONS is dedicated exclusively to women’s sports. Our pieces are designed with a unisex fit and are made for fans of all genders.

ALL-IN ON WOMEN’S SPORTS is more than our tagline. It is the reason we exist. It represents our commitment to celebrating women athletes, elevating their stories, and helping build greater visibility and opportunity across women’s sports. You will find it on our hangtags, behind our woven labels, and throughout our signature capsule collection.

WHICH SPORTS TEAMS DO YOU FOCUS ON?
Our first collaboration was with the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. Our ambition is to partner with teams, leagues, and athletes across the full landscape of women’s sports.

HOW DO YOUR PIECES FIT?
Our pieces are designed with a boxy, uni-sex, fashion-forward fit. Because sizing can vary slightly by style, we recommend reviewing the size guide and fit notes on each product page before ordering.If you are between sizes, we generally recommend sizing down for a closer fit or taking your usual size for a more relaxed silhouette.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE?
We select fabrics for their quality, hand feel, weight, and longevity. Exact fabric composition and construction details are listed on each product page. Our commitment is to use natural materials, 100% cotton, wherever possible. 

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY PIECES?
For most garments, we recommend washing inside out in cold water with similar colors and air-drying whenever possible. Avoid ironing directly over printed artwork. Please follow the care label inside your garment for style-specific instructions.

WHEN WILL MY ORDER SHIP?
In-stock orders typically ship within 2 business days. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with tracking information.

If an item is available for preorder, its anticipated shipping window will be clearly stated on the product page. Orders containing both in-stock and preorder items may ship together once all items are available.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?
We currently are only shipping within the continental U.S.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
We do not accept exchanges or returns. 

WHAT IF MY ORDER ARRIVES DAMAGED OR INCORRECT?
Please email hello@9commons.com within 2 days of delivery with your order number and photographs of the item and packaging. We will work with you to make it right.

WILL SOLD-OUT PIECES BE RESTOCKED?
Our collections for teams are produced in limited quantities and may not be restocked. If a piece returns, we will announce it through our email list and social channels.
